Erkyna’s Garden

160cm x 100cm eco-print panel made during a series of workshops with communities as part of The Memory of Water Creative Europe Project. Levadia, Greece. January 2019.

This large panel is made from thirty-two individual eco-prints produced during a series of workshops with local communities in Levadia, Greece. The workshop took place in a park on the flood plain of the Erkyna River in Levadia where participants gathered native flowers, leaves, and grasses on a walk along the riverbank guided by a local agronomist.

Participants then used these materials to compose individual designs on cotton-based paper. The paper was boiled with onion skins to produce prints from the plants’ natural pigments. Each participant made two prints: one to keep and one to be included in the large panel which is now housed in the Municipality of Levadia offices in the town centre.
